{"id":112,"date":"2019-10-06T09:34:28","date_gmt":"2019-10-06T09:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/windsor.themerex.net\/?p=112"},"modified":"2019-11-20T18:13:22","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T18:13:22","slug":"bicycle-path","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/en\/bicycle-path\/","title":{"rendered":"Bicycle path"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Known as the little brother of\u00a0Lake Balaton, Velence Lake is Hungary\u2019s second largest natural lake is not only a popular destination for locals but also one of the country\u2019s most stunning places to go cycling. <!--more-->Thanks to shallow water, it has Europe\u2019s warmest freshwater, and it is also a beautiful natural reserve for migration birds thanks to its numerous reeds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikemap.net\/en\/r\/3313974\/#\/z12\/47.2094237,18.5842323\/terrain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">There\u2019s a 33km trail that runs around the lake<\/a> over flat terrain, making it an easy and very enjoyable route. Running through the communes of Venice, Velence, Pozozd, Kisfalud, Dinnyes, Agard and Gardony, the trail uncovers Hungarian\u2019s lovely countryside villages and lush forests, including many natural and cultural attractions.<\/p>\n<p><em>Total Rise: 90 m<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Total slope: -90 m<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Height max .: 138 m<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Height min: 100 m<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Velence<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The starting point of the cycling path is located in the commune of Velence, right next to a train station allowing to reach Budapest in only 40mn. From the Velence train station, it is possible to access directly the biking path though underground passage, turning right and then left after the roundabout located near the small bridge, towards the lake.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The first part of the path brings us to the nice Velence beach on our left-hand side. Then, turning right towards the hills, there is a bicycle service shop a few hundred meters up.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The main road above the shop is leading to Budapest on the right, and we can cross it on the left next to a cemetery. Then we turn to the Panorama Road, which will take us up a steep hill to Mount Bence.<\/p>\n<h3>Mount Bence<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The hill offers a stunning view of the lake Velence, especially from the recently built lookout tower, which rewards the necessary effort to climb a quite steep section of the path.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1415\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1415\" style=\"width: 768px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/velencevizpartilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-4-e1570451450541.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1415 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/velencevizpartilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-4-e1570451450541-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-4-e1570451450541-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-4-e1570451450541-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-4-e1570451450541-770x1027.jpg 770w, https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-4-e1570451450541-370x493.jpg 370w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1415\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lookout tower at Mount Bence<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We then reach a small wood, that transforms into a majestic forest on both sides of the trail. We are surrounded by the sound of silence generated by an intense vegetation. Two signposts indicate a resting place on the lake shore. However, it has no benches to sit on, therefore it feels like it was established as a place rather for the bicycles to rest. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1416\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1416\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/velencevizpartilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1416 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/velencevizpartilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-2-770x578.jpg 770w, https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-2-370x278.jpg 370w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1416\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Trail towards Pakozd<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Going straight on, the trail becomes a fairly wide and high-quality bicycle path, before reaching the right junction towards the P\u00e1kozd-Sukor\u00f3 Arboretum.<\/p>\n<p>Going straight on the bike path, we first reach the Military Memorial Park, which is recommended to visit walking around the area. Everyone should do this little detour, as we can see many military monuments in the nicely designed park, offering as well a nice view from the hilltop.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The trail continues around the Mosquito island, towards the village of Pakozd, where a nice tavern can be found, for a possible refreshing stop.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1417\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1417\" style=\"width: 768px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/velencevizpartilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-5-e1570451589122.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1417 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/velencevizpartilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-5-e1570451589122-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-5-e1570451589122-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-5-e1570451589122-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-5-e1570451589122-770x1027.jpg 770w, https:\/\/vivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-5-e1570451589122-370x493.jpg 370w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1417\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Doni Chapel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From the village of P\u00e1kozd starts a cosy way through the forests of the S\u00e1r hill and the beauty of Pog\u00e1ny stones. There are several important archaeological sites around the area, as well as the P\u00e1kozd Battle Memorial Museum, which presents the events that took place in 1848 from a military historical point of view. Within the military memorial park can be found the originally shaped Doni Chapel.<\/p>\n<p>A bit further, we can find the entrance to the Pakozd arboretum, just 500 m from the junction, which presents a large variety of trees species for botanic lovers.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, the trail moves away from the lake and continues along the motorway. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>under the motorway, then turn left to get to Pakozd parallel to the highway. Leave the main road in a short stretch while overcoming a short ascent. Most of the sights of the town are located along the highway. Comfortably, you can go on a bicycle path, where the road is right, on your left.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1418\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1418\" style=\"width: 832px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/velencevizpartilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-8-e1570451669709.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1418 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/velencevivaldilakopark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Pix-8-e1574269408658-832x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"832\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1418\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bicycle path to Dinny\u00e9s<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Marked mountain bike routes provide access to movable property. The detour is on a steep road and only the first stage is covered by asphalt.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Approaching the western edge of the swing, you can choose to shorten the way or continue following the cycle path.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In order to follow the slightly longer but better-quality road, we do not turn left but continue rolling on the bicycle path. We cross Pakozd\u2019s industrial site, and then go on though the fields for quite some times. We can then see the first houses of the Kisfalud district of Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r, when we turn left after reaching the Emperor&#8217;s water.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Dinny\u00e9s<\/h3>\n<p>If we favour the short way, we can turn towards Dinny\u00e9s and Sereg\u00e9lyes on the left through G\u00e1bor \u00c1ron Street. We then go straight to the western edge of the lake and then cross the highway. This section is of poor quality, but goes alongside the lakeside reed, where we can sometimes view different varieties of migration birds. Dinny\u00e9s, this other village on the lake\u2019s shore attracts a lot of tourists, coming to discover its colourful tradition conservation programs. Agard is Velence\u2019s oldest resort, famous for its beaches, thermal spa, as well as its Palinka distillery.
